Ingredients

For the Bread

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup melted butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups peeled and diced apples

For the Streusel Topping

  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup cold butter cubed

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a loaf pan and set it aside for baking.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Add flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt to a bowl. Stir until fully combined.

Whisk Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk eggs, melted butter, milk, and vanilla together until the mixture becomes smooth.

Combine Dry and Wet Mixtures

  • Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture. Stir gently until everything looks well mixed.

Add the Apples

  • Fold in the diced apples slowly. Make sure the apples are spread evenly throughout the batter.

Transfer the Batter

  • Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan. Spread the top so the batter sits evenly inside.

Make the Streusel

  • Mix flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and cold butter cubes. Rub with fingers until the mixture becomes crumbly.

Add Streusel on Top

  • Sprinkle the streusel mixture over the batter. Cover the entire top with a thick crunchy layer.

Bake the Bread

  • Place the pan in the oven. Bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool Before Cutting

  • Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Then remove and cool fully before slicing.

Notes

  • Use tart apples like Granny Smith for a stronger apple flavor and better texture.
  • Do not overmix the batter because it can make the bread dense.
  • Add nuts like walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.
  • Use half whole-wheat flour for a healthier version with more fiber.
  • Add a light glaze of powdered sugar and milk if you want a sweeter top.
  • Replace cinnamon with apple pie spice for deeper warm flavor.
  • Double the streusel if you love a thicker, crunchy topping.
