Ingredients

  • Canned tuna in water drained well
  • Crispy cooked bacon strips
  • Mayonnaise
  • Dijon or yellow mustard
  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Onion powder
  • Cheddar or American cheese slices
  • Thick bread slices
  • Butter

Instructions

Prepare the Tuna Mixture

  • Place the drained tuna in a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, mustard, salt, pepper, and onion powder. Mix well until creamy and smooth. Make sure there is no extra water.

Cook the Bacon

  • Cook bacon in a pan over medium heat. Flip until crispy on both sides. Place the bacon on paper towels. Let it cool slightly, then break into pieces.

Mix Bacon with Tuna

  • Add the bacon pieces to the tuna mixture. Gently mix until the bacon is evenly spread through the tuna.

Butter the Bread

  • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice. This helps the bread toast evenly and turn golden.

Assemble the Sandwich

  • Place bread slices butter side down. Add tuna mixture on top. Place cheese slices over the tuna. Cover with another bread slice, butter side up.

Grill the Sandwich

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Place sandwiches in the pan. Cook until golden brown. Flip carefully and cook the other side.

Melt the Cheese

  • Lower the heat slightly. Cover the pan with a lid. This helps the cheese melt fully without burning the bread.

Serve Hot

  • Remove the sandwiches from the pan. Cut in half if desired. Serve hot and enjoy every bite.

Notes

  • Always drain tuna very well to avoid soggy sandwiches.
  • Use thick bread for better texture and crisp edges.
  • Try mozzarella or Swiss cheese for a different flavor.
  • Add chopped celery for extra crunch.
  • Use whole wheat bread for a healthier option.
  • Add sliced tomatoes if you like a fresh taste.
  • A pinch of garlic powder can boost flavor nicely.
