Ingredients

  • 1 pound fresh carrots peeled and sliced into thin sticks or rounds
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or orange zest optional, for extra flavor

Instructions

Prepare the Carrots

  • Peel the carrots and slice into uniform sticks or rounds. This ensures even cooking and a consistent texture.

Heat the Butter

  • In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Make sure it does not brown to maintain a smooth glaze.

Add Carrots

  • Add the sliced carrots to the melted butter. Stir well to coat them evenly before adding honey or spices.

Add Honey and Seasonings

  • Drizzle honey over the carrots. Sprinkle salt, pepper and optional cinnamon or orange zest. Stir gently to mix flavors.

Cook Until Tender

  • Cover the skillet and cook for 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally. Carrots should be soft but not mushy.

Glaze the Carrots

  • Remove the cover and continue cooking for 2–3 minutes. Stir constantly to allow the glaze to thicken and coat the carrots.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the carrots. Add extra salt, pepper or honey if desired. Ensure the glaze is shiny and flavorful.

Serve Warm

  • Transfer the honey glazed carrots to a serving bowl. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

  • Use baby carrots for a faster cooking time.
  • Add fresh herbs like thyme or parsley for an aromatic twist.
  • Substitute maple syrup for honey for a richer sweetness.
  • Roast carrots in the oven instead of stovetop for deeper caramelized flavor.
  • Sprinkle chopped nuts like pecans or almonds for crunch.
  • Add a dash of ginger or garlic for a savory-sweet version.
  • For a festive look, drizzle a little extra honey on top before serving.
