Ingredients

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped pickles or relish
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon capers chopped (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh dill chopped (optional)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Chop the pickles

  • Finely chop the pickles or relish. Make sure the pieces are small for a smooth texture.

Mix the mayonnaise

  • Add mayonnaise to a medium bowl. Stir until it is creamy and smooth.

Add lemon juice

  • Pour in fresh lemon juice. This gives tanginess and brightness to the sauce.

Add mustard and capers

  • Add Dijon mustard and chopped capers. Stir well to combine all flavors evenly.

Mix in dill and garlic powder

  • Add fresh dill and garlic powder. Mix gently so herbs spread evenly through the sauce.

Season with salt and pepper

  • Add salt and black pepper. Taste and adjust the seasoning to your preference.

Chill before serving

  • Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. This allows flavors to blend beautifully.

Serve with seafood

  • Use immediately with fish, shrimp or crab cakes. Or store in a jar for later use.

Notes

  • Use sweet or dill pickles for different flavors.
  • Add a teaspoon of hot sauce for a spicy kick.
  • Mix in a little finely chopped onion for extra texture.
  • Substitute lemon juice with vinegar if preferred.
  • Fresh herbs like parsley, tarragon, or chives work wonderfully.
