Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee powder
  • 1/4 cup hot water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

For Coffee Frosting

  • 1/2 cup butter softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
 

Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and line two round cake pans with parchment paper.

Prepare Coffee Mixture

  • Dissolve instant coffee in hot water. Let it cool slightly before using.

Cream Butter and Sugar

  • Beat butter and sugar until light, fluffy and pale in color.

Add Eggs

  • Add eggs one at a time and mix well after each addition.

Add Vanilla

  • Mix in vanilla extract for extra flavor.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt evenly.

Mix Batter

  • Add dry ingredients into wet mixture gradually, alternating with milk and coffee.

Add Walnuts

  • Fold chopped walnuts gently into the batter.

Bake Cakes

  • Divide batter into pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes until golden.

Cool Cakes

  • Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a rack.

Prepare Frosting

  • Beat butter, powdered sugar, coffee mixture and vanilla until smooth.

Assemble Cake

  • Spread frosting between layers and on top of cake evenly.

Decorate

  • Sprinkle extra walnuts on top for a beautiful finish.
