Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon gochujang paste
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cooking oil
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Sliced spring onions for garnish

Instructions

Prepare the Broccoli

  • Wash broccoli and cut into small florets. Dry them well so the oil cooks the pieces evenly during stir frying.

Mix the Sauce

  • Add gochujang, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, vinegar, and water. Whisk gently until the sauce becomes smooth and balanced.

Heat the Pan

  • Place cooking oil in a hot pan. Wait until the oil looks shiny, then add garlic and ginger for gentle aroma.

Cook the Broccoli

  • Add broccoli to the pan and stir. Keep heat high, move pieces often, and cook until bright green and slightly tender.

Add the Sauce

  • Pour the sauce over the broccoli and stir. Let it coat every piece while the liquid turns thicker and glossy.

Simmer Gently

  • Cook for one minute more. The sauce sticks to the broccoli, and the flavor becomes deep, warm, sweet, and spicy.

Final Seasoning

  • Taste the dish. Add salt and pepper if needed. Stir once more to keep the flavor even across every piece.

Finish and Serve

  • Turn off heat and rest the pan briefly. Sprinkle sesame seeds and spring onions, then serve the dish fresh and hot.

Notes

  • Use fresh broccoli for the best crunch and color.
  • Add tofu cubes for extra protein and a fuller meal.
  • Make it spicier by adding chili flakes or extra gochujang.
  • Replace honey with maple syrup for a vegan version.
  • Do not overcook broccoli. Soft broccoli loses texture and flavor.
  • Add carrots or snap peas for more color and nutrients.
  • Serve it as a side dish or enjoy it as a light main.
  • Double the sauce if you like stronger flavor or extra coating.
  • A quick marinade can deepen flavor before cooking.
  • Use a wide pan so broccoli cooks evenly and fast.
