Ingredients
  

  • 4 large portobello mushroom caps cleaned and stems removed
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 4 slices cheese optional
  • Lettuce leaves
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion slices
  • Condiments like ketchup mustard, or mayo

Instructions
 

Prepare the Marinade

  • In a mixing bowl, combine olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, salt, and pepper. Stir well.

Marinate Mushrooms

  • Place mushroom caps in the bowl. Coat each mushroom evenly. Let sit for 10 minutes.

Preheat Grill

  • Heat grill or grill pan over medium-high heat. Brush grates with oil to prevent sticking.

Grill First Side

  • Place mushrooms on grill, top side down. Cook for 5 minutes until soft and marked.

Flip Mushrooms

  • Turn mushrooms carefully using tongs. Grill other side for 5 minutes until fully cooked.

Add Cheese (Optional)

  • Place cheese slices on mushrooms for the last minute. Cover grill to melt cheese slightly.

Toast Buns

  • Place buns on grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted. Watch carefully to avoid burning.

Assemble Burgers

  • Place lettuce on bottom bun, add grilled mushroom, tomato, onion, and condiments. Top with bun.
