Ingredients

  • 1 pound cooked boudin sausage
  • 1 cup shredded cheese
  • 2 cups crushed Hot Cheetos
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Oil for frying
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prep the Boudin

  • Remove boudin from the casing. Place it in a bowl and break it apart with a spoon.

Add the Cheese

  • Mix shredded cheese with the boudin. Combine until it becomes soft and sticky like dough.

Shape the Balls

  • Scoop small portions of the mixture. Roll gently to form round balls with your hands.

Freeze for Strength

  • Place the balls on a tray. Freeze them for fifteen minutes to help keep their shape.

Crush the Hot Cheetos

  • Blend Hot Cheetos in a processor. Make bright red crumbs for the crunchy coating.

Prepare Coating Bowls

  • Place flour in one bowl. Beat eggs in another. Mix Cheetos crumbs and breadcrumbs in the third.

Coat with Flour

  • Roll each ball in flour first. Make sure the flour covers the entire surface evenly.

Dip in Egg Wash

  • Place the floured ball into the egg bowl. Turn it until fully coated with egg.

Add Spicy Crumbs

  • Roll the ball in the Hot Cheetos mix. Press gently to help the crumbs stick well.

Heat the Oil

  • Warm oil in a deep pot over medium-high heat. Make sure the oil is hot enough for frying.

Fry the Balls

  • Drop a few balls into the oil. Fry until bright red and crispy on the outside.

Drain the Extra Oil

  • Lift the balls with a slotted spoon. Place them on paper towels to remove extra oil.

Cool Before Serving

  • Let the boudin balls cool for a few minutes. This helps the coating become extra crispy.

Notes

  • Freeze the balls longer for a firmer shape.
  • Add cream cheese for a richer inside texture.
  • Mix Flamin’ Hot Cheetos with regular Hot Cheetos for lighter heat.
  • Try baking instead of frying for a healthier option.
  • Add chopped jalapeños inside for stronger spice.
  • Use spicy ranch as a dipping sauce for extra flavor.
  • You can air fry them for a crisp but lighter version.
