Ingredients
  

For the Chicken

  • 1 pound boneless chicken breast sliced thin
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

For the Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon chili garlic sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ cup chicken broth

Vegetables

  • 1 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 red bell pepper sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 2 green onions chopped

For Cooking

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Instructions
 

Prepare the Chicken

  • Slice chicken into thin strips. Place it in a bowl. Add soy sauce, sesame oil and cornstarch. Mix well and marinate.

Prepare the Sauce

  • In another bowl combine soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, chili garlic sauce, sugar and chicken broth. Stir until smooth.

Heat the Pan

  • Place a wok or skillet over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and allow it to heat until shimmering.

Cook the Chicken

  • Add marinated chicken to the hot pan. Stir fry for four minutes until lightly golden and almost cooked.

Remove Chicken

  • Transfer the cooked chicken to a plate temporarily. This prevents overcooking while vegetables cook.

Cook Aromatics

  • Add garlic and ginger to the same pan. Stir quickly for about thirty seconds until fragrant.

Add Vegetables

  • Add broccoli and sliced bell peppers. Stir fry for three minutes until vegetables become bright and slightly tender.

Return Chicken

  • Place the cooked chicken back into the pan. Mix it well with the vegetables.

Add the Sauce

  • Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken and vegetables. Stir continuously so everything becomes coated.

Simmer the Dish

  • Cook for three minutes until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the chicken evenly.

Add Green Onions

  • Sprinkle chopped green onions into the pan. Stir gently to combine flavors.

Final Taste Check

  • Taste the dish and adjust seasoning if needed. Add more chili sauce if you prefer extra heat.

Serve Hot

  • Turn off heat and serve immediately. Enjoy your homemade Hunan chicken with steamed rice or noodles.
