Ingredients
  

  • 4 eggs
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup Nutella

Instructions
 

Prepare the oven and tray

  • Preheat oven to 180°C. Line a baking tray with parchment paper. This helps the cake release easily after baking.

Beat eggs and sugar

  • In a bowl, beat eggs and sugar until thick and pale. This creates a light and airy sponge texture.

Add vanilla

  • Mix in vanilla extract gently. This enhances flavor without affecting the fluffy texture of the batter.

Mix dry ingredients

  • Sift flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt together. This removes lumps and keeps batter smooth.

Combine mixtures

  • Fold dry ingredients into egg mixture slowly. Use gentle motion to keep batter airy and light.

Bake the sponge

  • Spread batter evenly in tray. Bake for 10–12 minutes until set and soft to touch.

Roll the cake

  • Place warm cake on a towel. Roll gently with towel and let it cool completely in rolled shape.

Prepare filling and assemble

  • Whip cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form. Unroll cake, spread Nutella and cream, then roll again.
