Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Cream Butter and Sugars

  • In a bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add Eggs and Vanilla

  • Mix in eggs one at a time. Add vanilla extract and blend well.

Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In another bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt.

Mix Everything

  • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture. Mix until combined.

Add Chocolate Chips

  • Fold in chocolate chips evenly.

Chill Dough

  • Cover dough and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This keeps cookies thick.

Shape Cookies

  • Scoop dough into balls and place on baking sheet about 2 inches apart.

Bake

  • Bake for 10–12 minutes until edges are golden and centers are slightly soft.

Cool and Serve

  • Let cookies cool for 5 minutes on the sheet. Transfer to a cooling rack.

Notes

  • Add chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top before baking.
  • Use dark chocolate chips for richer flavor.
  • Do not overbake to keep cookies soft.
  • Store dough in freezer for future baking.
