Ingredients

For Meatloaf

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 medium onion finely chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

For Glaze

  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon mustard

Instructions

Prepare the Oven

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F. Lightly grease your baking dish or line it with foil.

Chop the Onion

  • Finely chop the onion pieces. Smaller pieces mix better and cook evenly inside meatloaf.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add eggs, milk, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce into a large bowl. Mix well.

Add Seasonings

  • Add garlic powder, salt, black pepper and chopped onion into the bowl mixture.

Add Breadcrumbs

  • Pour breadcrumbs into the bowl. Stir gently until combined with wet ingredients.

Add Ground Beef

  • Place ground beef into mixture. Mix gently using clean hands. Avoid overmixing the meat.

Shape the Meatloaf

  • Transfer mixture into baking dish. Shape into a loaf shape with even thickness.

Make the Glaze

  • Mix ketchup, brown sugar and mustard together until smooth and fully combined.

Add Glaze

  • Spread glaze evenly over the meatloaf surface. Cover all top areas completely.

Bake the Meatloaf

  • Bake uncovered for about 55 to 60 minutes until cooked through completely.

Check Temperature

  • Insert thermometer into center. Internal temperature should reach 160°F before removing.

Rest Before Serving

  • Let meatloaf rest for 10 minutes. This keeps juices inside when slicing.

Notes

  • Use beef with some fat for better moisture
  • Do not overmix meat mixture
  • Add shredded carrots for extra moisture
  • Use turkey instead of beef if preferred
  • Add cheese inside for extra flavor
  • Use crushed crackers instead of breadcrumbs
  • Let meatloaf rest before slicing
