Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot sauce like Frank’s
  • 1 tablespoon light butter
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch optional for thickening
  • 2 tablespoons water optional for cornstarch mix
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Heat the Hot Sauce

  • Warm the hot sauce in a small saucepan over low heat until it starts to steam gently.

Add the Light Butter

  • Add the light butter and mix well until it melts completely and blends with the hot sauce.

Add the Vinegar

  • Pour in the white vinegar and whisk the sauce for a smooth and balanced tangy flavor.

Mix in the Spices

  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, cayenne, and a little salt. Stir gently to combine well.

Make Cornstarch Slurry

  • Mix cornstarch with water in a small bowl until smooth, with no dry lumps inside.

Thicken the Sauce

  • Slowly add the slurry into the saucepan and whisk until the sauce becomes slightly thicker.

Simmer Gently

  • Let the sauce simmer on low heat for one to two minutes so flavors blend perfectly.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the sauce and adjust salt, spice, or vinegar until you get your perfect flavor balance.

Cool the Sauce

  • Remove the sauce from heat and allow it to cool slightly before pouring into a container.

Store and Use

  • Keep the sauce in a sealed jar and use it for wings, wraps, dips, or salads anytime.

Notes

  • Use light butter for fewer calories but the same creamy taste.
  • Add extra cayenne if you want a stronger heat level.
  • Add a teaspoon of honey for a sweet and spicy version.
  • Use smoked paprika for a deeper flavor.
  • Add lemon juice for a fresh and bright taste.
  • Skip cornstarch if you prefer a thin, classic-style buffalo sauce.
  • Replace vinegar with apple cider vinegar for a mild fruity flavor.
