Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips optional
  • 1/4 cup sprinkles or nuts

Instructions
 

Prepare the tray

  • Line a baking tray with parchment paper. Set aside for later.

Melt the butter

  • Put butter in a saucepan. Melt on low heat. Stir gently.

Add sugar and milk

  • Add sugar and milk. Stir all the time for a smooth mix.

Cook the mixture

  • Cook on medium heat. Let sugar dissolve. Do not burn it.

Add salt and vanilla

  • Stir in salt and vanilla. Mix for a few seconds.

Check thickness

  • Cook until thick and sticky, like soft caramel.

Add chocolate chips

  • Take off heat. Add chocolate chips if you want. Stir to melt.

Add sprinkles or nuts

  • Mix in sprinkles or nuts quickly before candy hardens.

Pour onto tray

  • Pour mixture onto tray. Spread evenly with a spatula.

Cool completely

  • Let candy cool 1–2 hours at room temperature until firm.

Cut into pieces

  • Use a knife to cut candy into small squares or rectangles.

Serve and enjoy

  • Place candy on a plate. Serve to kids, friends, or family.

Notes

  • Use mint or almond extract for different flavors.
  • Replace sprinkles with crushed cookies or nuts.
  • Do not overcook sugar or candy will be hard.
