Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • 1 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: ½ cup chopped nuts or walnuts

Instructions

Prepare the pan

  • Grease the baking pan with butter or line it with parchment paper. Set it aside for later.

Combine sugar, butter, and milk

  • In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, butter and milk. Stir over medium heat until melted.

Boil the mixture

  • Bring it to a boil, stirring constantly. Let it boil for about 5 minutes without stopping.

Add sweetened condensed milk

  • Remove from heat and stir in sweetened condensed milk. Mix until smooth and creamy.

Add chocolate chips

  • Add chocolate chips to the warm mixture. Stir until completely melted and combined.

Mix in vanilla and salt

  • Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Stir well to enhance the flavor of your fudge.

Optional nuts

  • If using nuts, fold them in now. This adds a nice crunch to your soft fudge.

Pour into the pan

  • Transfer the fudge mixture into the prepared pan. Spread it evenly using a spatula.

Cool and set

  • Allow fudge to cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours. It should firm up nicely.

Cut into squares

  • Once set, lift the fudge from the pan. Cut it into small squares with a sharp knife.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for a richer flavor.
  • Stir constantly while boiling to avoid burning sugar.
  • Add a teaspoon of instant coffee for a mocha twist.
  • Replace semi-sweet chocolate with dark chocolate for a richer fudge.
  • Sprinkle sea salt on top for a salted chocolate version.
  • Store in an airtight container for longer freshness.
