Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 cup cold butter
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 1/2 pound breakfast sausage
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour for gravy
  • 2 cups whole milk for gravy
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

Prepare the biscuit dough

  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Add cold butter and mix until crumbly texture forms nicely.

Add milk and form dough

  • Pour milk slowly into the mixture. Stir gently until soft dough forms. Do not overmix to keep biscuits light and fluffy.

Shape the biscuits

  • Roll the dough on a floured surface. Cut into circles using a cutter or glass. Place them on a baking tray.

Bake the biscuits

  • Preheat oven to 200°C. Bake biscuits for 12–15 minutes until golden brown. Remove and let them cool slightly before serving.

Cook the sausage

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage and cook until browned. Break it into small pieces while cooking evenly.

Add flour to sausage

  • Sprinkle flour over cooked sausage. Stir well and cook for one minute. This helps thicken the gravy properly.

Pour milk slowly

  • Add milk gradually while stirring constantly. This prevents lumps and creates a smooth gravy texture.

Season the gravy

  • Add salt and black pepper. Stir and let it cook until thick and creamy. Keep stirring to avoid burning at the bottom.

Assemble the dish

  • Split biscuits in half. Pour hot gravy over them. Serve immediately while warm and fresh for best taste.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for soft and flaky biscuits
  • Do not overmix dough to avoid hard biscuits
  • Cook gravy on medium heat for better texture
  • Add red chili flakes for a spicy version
  • Use turkey sausage for a lighter option
  • Add cheese to biscuits for extra flavor
  • Use buttermilk instead of regular milk for richer taste
