Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • cup melted butter
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour

For the Filling:

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
  • cup softened butter

For the Glaze:

  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • Pour warm milk into a bowl. Add yeast and one spoon sugar. Mix gently. Let it sit for 5 minutes until foamy.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Add melted butter, eggs, remaining sugar and salt. Mix everything well until smooth and fully combined.

Add Flour

  • Add flour slowly into the wet mixture. Mix until soft dough forms. Dough should feel slightly sticky but manageable.

Knead the Dough

  • Knead dough for 8 minutes. Use mixer or hands. Dough should become smooth, soft, and elastic.

First Rise

  • Place dough in greased bowl. Cover with towel. Let it rise in warm place for one hour until doubled.

Prepare the Filling

  • Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in small bowl. Keep softened butter ready for spreading on dough.

Roll the Dough

  • Punch down dough gently. Roll into large rectangle about ¼ inch thick on floured surface.

Add Butter

  • Spread softened butter evenly over dough. Cover all edges so filling sticks properly.

Add Cinnamon Sugar

  • Sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over butter. Press lightly so sugar sticks to dough surface.

Roll Into Log

  • Roll dough tightly from long side. Keep it firm but gentle to avoid tearing.

Cut the Rolls

  • Cut log into 12 equal pieces. Use sharp knife or dental floss for clean slices.

Second Rise

  • Place rolls in greased baking dish. Cover and let rise 30 minutes until puffy and bigger.

Bake

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake rolls for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown on top.

Make the Glaze

  • Mix powdered sugar, milk, vanilla and melted butter. Whisk until smooth and creamy texture forms.

Add Glaze

  • Pour glaze over warm rolls. Spread evenly. Let it melt into rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Use room temperature eggs for better mixing.
  • Do not overheat milk. It can kill the yeast.
  • Add chopped pecans for extra crunch.
  • Add cream cheese to glaze for richer flavor.
  • Use bread flour for slightly chewier texture.
  • Let rolls cool slightly before glazing.
  • Store yeast properly to keep it active.
