Ingredients
  

For the cake:

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • Eggs oil, and water (as required by cake mix)

For the pineapple topping:

  • 1 can crushed pineapple with juice
  • 1 cup sugar

For the frosting:

  • 1 package cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped pecans optional

Instructions
 

Prepare cake batter

  • Make cake batter using package instructions and pour into a greased baking dish evenly.

Bake the cake

  • Bake at 180°C for 30 to 35 minutes until fully baked and golden.

Cook pineapple topping

  • In a pan, cook crushed pineapple and sugar for 5 minutes until slightly thickened.

Add topping to warm cake

  • Poke holes in warm cake and pour pineapple mixture evenly on top.

Cool completely

  • Let cake cool so the topping soaks in well.

Prepare frosting

  • Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth and creamy.

Add sugar and vanilla

  • Mix powdered sugar and vanilla until fluffy and spreadable.

Frost the cake

  • Spread frosting evenly over cooled cake.

Add nuts

  • Sprinkle chopped pecans on top for extra crunch.

Chill and serve

  • Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.
