Ingredients
  

  • 1 pound fresh okra sliced
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • Oil for frying

Instructions
 

Prepare Okra

  • Wash and slice okra into small pieces.

Soak in Buttermilk

  • Place okra in buttermilk and let sit for 5–10 minutes.

Prepare Coating

  • In a bowl, mix cornmeal, flour, salt, pepper and paprika.

Coat Okra

  • Drain okra slightly and toss in cornmeal mixture until well coated.

Heat Oil

  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.

Fry Okra

  • Add coated okra in batches and fry until golden and crispy.

Drain Oil

  • Remove with slotted spoon and place on paper towels.

Serve

  • Serve hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Use fresh okra for best texture
  • Add cayenne pepper for heat
  • Use only cornmeal for extra crunch
  • Do not overcrowd the pan
  • Fry in batches for even cooking
  • Serve with dipping sauces
