Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 2 cups elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can 15 oz tomato sauce
  • 1 can 14 oz diced tomatoes
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Instructions

Cook the Pasta

  • Boil salted water in large pot. Add elbow macaroni. Cook until just tender. Drain and set aside.

Brown the Beef

  • Heat skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef. Cook until brown and no longer pink.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Add chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for five minutes until soft and fragrant.

Drain Excess Fat

  • Remove extra grease from skillet carefully. This keeps the dish from becoming too oily.

Add Tomato Sauce

  • Pour in tomato sauce and diced tomatoes. Stir well to combine everything evenly.

Add Seasonings

  • Add Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, paprika, salt and pepper. Mix thoroughly for balanced flavor.

Add Beef Broth

  • Pour in beef broth slowly. Stir gently and bring mixture to gentle simmer.

Simmer the Sauce

  • Cover skillet and simmer for 15 minutes. This helps flavors blend beautifully.

Add Cooked Pasta

  • Add drained macaroni into sauce mixture. Stir carefully so pasta gets fully coated.

Add Cheese

  • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese on top. Stir until cheese melts into sauce.

Final Simmer

  • Let everything cook together for five more minutes. Sauce should thicken nicely.

Serve Warm

  • Turn off heat. Serve hot and enjoy this comforting homemade goulash.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey instead of beef for lighter version.
  • Add bell peppers for extra color and nutrition.
  • Use mozzarella for extra cheesy texture.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat.
  • Simmer longer for deeper flavor.
  • Use whole wheat pasta for healthier option.
