Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can tomato sauce
  • 1 can kidney beans drained
  • 1 can black beans drained
  • 1 cup corn kernels
  • 3 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish

Instructions

Heat the Pot

  • Place a large pot over medium heat. Add olive oil and allow it to warm for one minute.

Cook the Ground Beef

  • Add ground beef to the pot. Cook until browned completely while breaking the meat into small crumbles carefully.

Add Onion and Garlic

  • Stir chopped onion into the beef mixture. Cook until soft. Add garlic and cook for another minute gently.

Add the Seasonings

  • Sprinkle taco seasoning and chili powder into the pot. Stir well so every ingredient becomes evenly coated with spices.

Pour in Tomatoes

  • Add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce carefully. Stir until everything combines into a rich and flavorful chili base.

Add Beans and Corn

  • Pour kidney beans, black beans and corn into the pot. Stir gently so the beans stay whole and tender.

Add Beef Broth

  • Pour beef broth into the chili mixture. Stir well and bring everything to a gentle simmer over medium heat.

Simmer the Chili

  • Cook the chili for twenty minutes. Stir sometimes to prevent sticking and help the flavors blend beautifully together.

Taste and Adjust

  • Taste the chili carefully. Add salt and black pepper if needed for extra flavor and balance in every bite.

Serve the Taco Chili

  • Ladle hot chili into bowls. Top with cheddar cheese and fresh cilantro before serving warm to your family.

Notes

  • Use ground turkey for a lighter version.
  • Add jalapeños for extra spicy flavor.
  • Stir cream cheese into the chili for creaminess.
  • Use fire-roasted tomatoes for smoky taste.
  • Add extra beans for more protein and texture.
  • Top with sour cream and tortilla chips.
  • Cook slowly for deeper flavor.
  • Add bell peppers for extra color and sweetness.
  • Use homemade taco seasoning if preferred.
  • Serve with cornbread for a complete meal.
