Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 2 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • Extra butter for brushing

Instructions

Activate the Yeast

  • Pour warm milk into a bowl. Add sugar and yeast. Stir gently. Let it sit for five minutes until foamy.

Add Wet Ingredients

  • Mix melted butter, eggs and salt into the yeast mixture. Stir well until everything combines smoothly.

Add the Flour

  • Slowly add flour into the bowl. Mix little by little until a soft dough forms completely.

Knead the Dough

  • Place dough on a floured surface. Knead for eight minutes until smooth, soft, and stretchy.

First Rise

  • Put dough into a greased bowl. Cover with towel. Let it rise one hour until doubled in size.

Shape the Rolls

  • Punch down dough gently. Divide into equal pieces. Roll each piece into smooth round balls carefully.

Arrange in Pan

  • Place dough balls into a greased baking dish. Leave small spaces between each roll for rising.

Second Rise

  • Cover the pan with towel. Let rolls rise again for thirty minutes until puffy and larger.

Bake the Rolls

  • Preheat oven to 375°F. Bake rolls for fifteen to eighteen minutes until golden brown on top.

Brush with Butter

  • Remove hot rolls from oven carefully. Brush melted butter over the tops for extra flavor and softness.

Serve Warm

  • Let rolls cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm buttery rolls with your favorite meals and spreads.

Notes

  • Use fresh yeast for the best fluffy texture.
  • Do not overheat the milk. Warm milk works best for yeast activation.
  • Knead the dough well for soft and airy rolls.
  • Add garlic powder for garlic butter rolls.
  • Sprinkle herbs on top before baking for extra flavor.
  • Replace half the flour with whole wheat flour for healthier rolls.
  • Brush honey butter on top for sweet dinner rolls.
  • Let the dough rise in a warm place for faster results.
  • Use a stand mixer if you want easier kneading.
  • Avoid adding too much flour or rolls may become dense.
