Ingredients

  • 12 oz egg noodles uncooked
  • 2 cans 5 oz each tuna, drained
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can 10.5 oz cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Optional topping: ½ cup crushed crackers or breadcrumbs mixed with 2 tbsp butter

Instructions

Prepare the Ingredients

  • Chop the onion. Drain tuna. Measure noodles, soups, milk, and cheese. Pre-measure spices.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, garlic powder, and onion powder.

Add to Slow Cooker

  • Place uncooked noodles in the slow cooker. Add chopped onion, frozen peas, and drained tuna on top.

Pour Sauce Over Noodles

  • Evenly pour the soup mixture over noodles, ensuring all pieces are coated for creamy results.

Season the Casserole

  • Sprinkle black pepper over the mixture. Mix gently to combine ingredients without breaking noodles.

Cook on Low

  • Cover and cook on low for 2 to 2.5 hours. Check after 2 hours; noodles should be tender.

Add Cheese

  • About 15 minutes before serving, sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the top. Cover to melt completely.

Optional Topping

  • For a crispy topping, mix crushed crackers or breadcrumbs with butter and sprinkle over the cheese before finishing.

Check Doneness

  • Make sure noodles are tender, sauce is creamy, and casserole is heated through. Stir gently if needed.

Serve Warm

  • Scoop portions into bowls. Garnish with extra cheese or parsley if desired. Enjoy this comforting meal.

Notes

  • Use whole wheat or gluten-free noodles for a healthier option.
  • Swap peas for broccoli or carrots for different vegetables.
  • Make ahead by assembling in the slow cooker the night before; cook in the morning.
  • Add a splash of soy sauce or Worcestershire sauce for deeper flavor.
  • Sprinkle extra shredded cheese on each serving for cheesier casserole.
