Ingredients
  

For the Cake

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • cups sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon nutmeg
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe pears peeled and chopped

Optional Topping

  • Powdered sugar for dusting
  • ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions
 

Preheat Oven

  • Set oven to 350°F and grease your baking pan.

Prepare Pears

  • Peel and chop ripe pears into small pieces.

Mix Dry Ingredients

  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt.

Mix Wet Ingredients

  • Whisk eggs, oil and vanilla extract until smooth.

Combine Mixtures

  • Add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix gently.

Add Pears

  • Fold chopped pears into the batter carefully.

Pour Batter

  • Pour batter into prepared baking pan evenly.

Bake

  • Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden and cooked through.

Cool Cake

  • Let the cake cool for 15 minutes before removing.

Serve

  • Dust with powdered sugar and serve warm or room temperature.

  • Use very ripe pears for best sweetness.
