These ingredients for Sweet And Sour Pork Stir Fry are easy to find and full of flavor.

  • 500 grams pork shoulder or pork loin cut into cubes
  • 1 red bell pepper chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper chopped
  • 1 medium onion cut into chunks
  • 1 cup pineapple chunks
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger minced
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil

For the sauce:

  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with water

For coating pork:

  • ½ cup cornstarch
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

Prepare the Pork

  • Cut pork into bite-sized cubes. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Coat evenly with cornstarch for light crispiness.

Mix the Sauce

  • In a bowl, mix ketchup, sugar, vinegar, soy sauce, pineapple juice and cornstarch slurry until smooth.

Heat the Pan

  • Heat oil in a wok over medium-high heat. Make sure the pan is hot before adding pork.

Fry the Pork

  • Add pork pieces in batches. Fry until golden and crispy outside. Remove and set aside on a plate.

Stir Fry Aromatics

  • Add more oil if needed. Add garlic and ginger. Stir quickly until fragrant, about thirty seconds.

Cook Vegetables

  • Add onion and bell peppers. Stir fry for two to three minutes. Keep vegetables slightly crunchy.

Add Pineapple

  • Add pineapple chunks to the pan. Stir gently to release sweetness and fresh flavor.

Combine Pork

  • Return the cooked pork to the pan. Toss gently with vegetables to mix evenly.

Add Sauce

  • Pour prepared sauce over everything. Stir continuously until sauce thickens and coats ingredients well.

Final Stir

  • Cook for one more minute. Turn off heat once sauce looks glossy and rich.

Notes

  • Use pork shoulder for juicier and softer meat.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan while frying pork.
  • Add chili flakes for a spicy kick.
  • Use chicken or tofu instead of pork if desired.
  • Fresh pineapple tastes better than canned ones.
  • Adjust sugar and vinegar to suit your taste.
