Ingredients
  

For the Beef Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 4 garlic cloves minced
  • 2 –3 Thai red chilies finely sliced (optional for heat)
  • 1 small onion finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon fish sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup fresh Thai basil leaves

For the Wraps

  • 8 –12 large lettuce leaves romaine or butter lettuce works best
  • Fresh cilantro leaves for garnish
  • Lime wedges for serving

Instructions
 

Prepare the Lettuce

  • Wash the lettuce leaves carefully. Pat dry with a paper towel and set aside for rolling.

Heat the Pan

  • Place a skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add vegetable oil and heat until shimmering.

Cook Garlic and Chili

  • Add minced garlic and sliced Thai chilies to the hot pan. Stir quickly for 30 seconds until fragrant.

Add Onion

  • Add chopped onion. Stir fry for 2 minutes until soft and slightly translucent.

Cook the Beef

  • Add ground beef to the pan. Stir frequently and cook for 4–5 minutes until browned and fully cooked.

Add Sauce

  • Add soy sauce, fish sauce, sugar and black pepper. Stir well so the beef absorbs all flavors.

Add Thai Basil

  • Turn off heat and stir in fresh Thai basil leaves. Mix until wilted and fragrant.

Prepare the Wraps

  • Place lettuce leaves on a serving plate. Spoon a portion of the beef mixture into each leaf.

Garnish

  • Top each wrap with fresh cilantro and a small squeeze of lime for extra brightness.

Serve

  • Serve immediately while warm. Let everyone roll their own wraps for a fun presentation.
